Job Description


Experience Level:

Standard to Senior. Must have experience working in Games. Experience in Film and VFX is a plus.

Employment type:

Full-time (8 hours per day with some flexibility for self-organization).

Reporting to:

Art Director


PlayStation Studios Team ASOBI / Art Team


Tokyo area (remote work possible after a 3-month probation period at the office).

Role overview:

Team ASOBI is looking for a talented Mid-Level / Senior Technical Artist.
Your role will be to create tools and simplify processes for the environment team as well as create stunning environment art and implement it into our game engine.

  • Design, create, test, and maintain tools for the environment art team.
  • Work with environment artists to create tools that speed up their workflows.
  • Collaborate with environment artists to solve technically difficult challenges and automate tedious tasks.
  • Develop new techniques and processes to solve environment art production challenges for a game dev environment.
  • Capable of writing pipeline tools to streamline workflows and processes.
  • Create fantastic-looking environment art.
Skills required:
  • 5+ years of production experience in Games, Feature Films, or VFX.
  • In-depth knowledge of Maya and Houdini. Especially with procedural modelling\texturing techniques and workflows.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of LOD systems.
  • Programming experience with scripting languages such as VEX, Python, and MEL.
  • Experience setting up production pipelines, while being able to follow guidelines.
  • Team player with a positive attitude and excellent communication skills.
  • Task-driven, highly motivated, and proactive.
  • Japanese language is not required though interest in learning should exist (lessons will be provided and paid for).
